• LEGO GPU Kit Lets You Geek Out While Building Your Own GPU

We’re not sure how many of you might remember, but way back in the day, there was a very popular GPU in the form of the 3dfx Voodoo. It was one of the more classic GPUs from the earlier computing days, and if you’ve always wanted to own one, you’re in luck because you’ll be able to, sort of.

According to a submission to LEGO Ideas by user Bhaal_Spawn, he has recreated the 3dfx Voodoo GPU in LEGO form. Obviously this won’t actually power your computer, but we have to say that it is a very clever idea and the design looks (almost) spot on! Now, the actual LEGO kit isn’t made yet but Bhaal_Spawn is certainly hoping that it will.

For those unfamiliar, users can submit ideas to LEGO for consideration for being turned into buildable kits. Anyone can submit an idea, but LEGO will require at least 10,000

  • France’s Virus Train Moves Patients to Less Hard-Hit Areas

Along with much of the world, France has gone into lockdown mode to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus. Citizens are staying at home, planes are on the tarmac, cars in garages. The national railroad has whittled service to a minimum, but it sent a TGV high-speed train from Strasbourg to Angers, in the Loire Valley, Thursday morning. The manifest, however, was most unusual: Instead of the more than 500 passengers that normally fit into the double-decker, it carried 20 Covid-19 patients.

The goal of the “TGV medicalisé” was to take the pressure off hospitals in France’s Grand Est region, along the German and Belgian borders, where nearly 6,000 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed. Only the Paris area, with about 7,600 cases, has more within France, according to the national health agency. With fewer than 400 cases, the Loire region has medical capacity to spare.

  • Global VPN usage has spiked amidst coronavirus outbreak. Here’s why.

Almost 40 percent of the world is now at home taking shelter from the coronavirus or COVID-19.

But for some unlucky few – myself included – work still goes on. Many businesses have moved to a work-from-home approach to continue operating during these troubling times.

In a report sent to us by ExpressVPN, it showed that Virtual Private Networks (VPN) usage has gone up around the Asia Pacific region.

VPN allows you to mask your location, making it harder for hackers to infiltrate your internet network and potentially steal or monitor what’s on your computer.

Consumers use VPNs to hide from websites that might track their data, while companies use it to secure connections to their main servers.

The report shows that Philippines has the highest growth in Asia Pacific with a 27 percent increase in users, followed by Singapore at 11 percent.

  • ‘Several’ ARM-based Mac laptops and desktops coming next year, says report

The Mac’s long-rumored transition from Intel processors to Apple’s own ARM designs could be swifter and more extensive than you might have expected. According to a new research note from analyst Ming-chi Kuo, reported on by MacRumors, Apple is planning to release “several” ARM-based Macs in 2021 in both laptop and desktop form factors.

Kuo believes that switching to ARM will allow Apple to reduce its processor costs by 40 to 60 percent while gaining more flexibility over its hardware lineup. He recently claimed that Apple would launch its first ARM-based laptop in the fourth quarter of this year or the first quarter of next.

Relative to x86 processors from Intel or AMD, ARM designs are usually associated with mobile devices because of their greater power efficiency, giving products like the iPad long battery life without the need for active cooling. It makes sense, then, that Apple would see

  • Biotechnology Main

Pushed by discovery, biotechnology explores the meals processing, genetics, pharmaceutical and bioengineering aspects of the business and makes the inconceivable attainable. Crops produced by genetic engineering are the only ones formally reviewed to evaluate the potential for transfer of novel traits to wild family. When new traits are genetically engineered right into a crop, the new crops are evaluated to make sure that they do not have characteristics of weeds. best definition of technology Where biotech crops are grown in proximity to associated vegetation, the potential for the 2 crops to exchange traits through pollen should be evaluated before release. Crop plants of all kinds can change traits with their shut wild relatives (which may be weeds or wildflowers) when they’re in proximity. In the case of biotech-derived crops, the EPA and USDA perform threat assessments to evaluate this risk and reduce potential dangerous penalties, if any.
