The ‘Friends’ Reunion Is Officially Happening On HBO Max This May

Despite having come to a satisfying and emotional conclusion more than 15 years ago, the “Friends” TV show is still being talked about today where many are clamoring for a reunion of sorts. The good news is that if you’re a huge Friends fan and would love to see the cast get back together, you’re in luck.

HBO has recently announced that this coming May, the Friends reunion will officially be happening, although not necessarily in the way you think. This was confirmed by Kevin Reilly, chief content officer for HBO Max who said, “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library.”

So what will this reunion be about? Unfortunately, like we said, it might not be what you were hoping, which we imagine is a new season of episodes. Instead, this will be a one-off special unscripted episode that will be filmed on the original soundstage on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank.

It will be interesting to see how this episode will turn out, especially given its unscripted nature, and how well Friends will hold up in today’s climate and whether or not all the waiting and hype is worth it.
